The company was established at a time when independent tire dealers were finding it hard to compete with the retail outlets of tire manufacturers. Big O Tires found its competitive edge by providing outstanding service and exceptional after-sales support. In 2020, the company was ranked number one in the Wheel and Tire category of Entrepreneur magazine. Today, the business is under the ownership of TBC Corporation and has over 465 locations. Interested in becoming a Big O Tires franchise? You don’t need to have experience in the automotive industry, however, you will need to undergo their New Franchisee Orientation program. The program is designed to get franchisees up-to-date with company culture, processes, and their customer relations policies. It is 175 hours long and consists of on-the-job and classroom training. Big O Tires offers exclusive incentives to franchisee owners, veterans, and first responders (e.g., firefighters, policemen, emergency medical teams). Costs associated with a Big O Tires franchise include a $10,000 to $35,000 franchise fee, an initial investment of $313,500 to $1,143,800, 2% in royalty fees, and a 0.9% advertising fee. You get territorial exclusivity and a 10-year initial term with the option to renew.
